When you will need it

Stays longer than 90 days

Health insurance is submitted with an application for a long-term visa or residence permit.

You are not in Czech public insurance

Students who do not work in Czechia usually fall outside the public system.

You need proof for the authorities

We send the policy and proof of payment by e-mail, usually in English as well.

What students should watch out for

Length follows your stay, not the semester

The policy should cover the whole period you are applying for, not just the academic year.

Confirmation of study

Some insurers offer students a lower rate. Keep the confirmation at hand — it may save you money.

Extending your stay

When you extend, insurance for the following period is submitted too. Get in touch with us in good time.

Scope of cover

Long-term stays usually call for comprehensive cover, not only urgent and emergency care.

Frequently asked by students

What kind of insurance do I need as a student?
For stays over 90 days, comprehensive health insurance is generally expected. The exact requirement depends on the purpose of your stay and where you file the application — check it with the embassy or the Ministry of the Interior. We are glad to help you with it.
How long is the policy taken out for?
Usually for the period you are applying for, often a year. Shorter terms are possible too, but a residence application normally has to cover the whole required period.
Do students get a lower price?
With some insurers, yes. In our calculator you switch study on with a single toggle and the prices recalculate — so you see straight away whether it makes a difference at a given insurer.
When does the cover start?
You choose the start date yourself, usually the day from which you need to prove it. With most insurers cover begins once the premium is paid, so do not leave it to the last day.
What if my visa is refused?
Refund terms differ from insurer to insurer. Get in touch with us — we will go through the terms of your particular policy and help you with the next steps.
